My personal Blog

✈️ My new trip πŸ‘£ to India is about to begin. Which doesn't mean I've never been there before. Here's a little insight into his backstory:

About six years ago, I met a young man in Nepal. I was on a tour of Nepal, and he was a tour guide with a small group. We chatted and immediately hit it off. He told me about his dreams of founding a small school for children from socially disadvantaged families, and I was immediately hooked. I told him about my life and my self-employment in Germany at the time. How difficult it was to find new, reliable employees and how I make a living. My self-employment as a caretaker had been very successful for about eight years, but my health, especially my back, was becoming increasingly difficult to bear the daily stresses, and the search for new employees I could truly rely on was very limited. Then COVID-19 struck, and my relationship also fell apart. Only contact with my Indian friend remained stable, with almost daily communication, and a deep, solid friendship quickly developed.

Meanwhile, my Indian friend, back in his hometown of Dehradun, began setting up a small classroom with a teacher in his own room, in his grandparents' house. The project started with just five children, and I was involved from the very beginning. We called it WeLikeToHelp. I tried to fly to India every now and then to participate there for longer periods, to work on the project, and to expand it further. We converted the roof, which had only a railing around it, into two new rooms and designed them to be child-friendly (more information on this will follow in further links with pictures). WeLikeToHelp grew steadily, and by 2025, there were now more than 120 children, eight new teachers, and other support staff.

🌍 My Journey to India – Why I'm Giving Up Everything to Help?

I've made one of the most important decisions of my life: I'm giving up my familiar life in Germany – my job, my apartment, my safe environment – and moving to India. A new chapter begins for me on July 20, 2025.

I didn't make this decision lightly. After many months of reflection, planning, and consideration, it became clear to me: I want to use my energy, my time, and my heart where they are urgently needed. In India, I will engage in social work and work with children from disadvantaged families – giving them education, support, and, above all, a fair chance at a better life.

It's a courageous step to leave my homeland for an indefinite period of time, to leave family and friends behind, and move to a new, unfamiliar environment. But I'm convinced: The value I can create for others is greater than any security I'm giving up.
